The video for Lazarus is a mixture of performance and conceptual ideas, there is no concrete plot for the video, rather it is an interpretation of death. The overall tone of the video gives this validity, the muted colors and use of darkness creates a somber tone and matches the melancholy song. One of the key moments is of Bowie on the bed, the way it is shot makes it seem other worldly due to that fact Bowie looks like he is standing yet laying in a bed. The way he moves and clutches the blankets show pain and fear, which are major themes in the song. The camera has movement, but it is slow and ominous, similar to Evil Dead or Children of Men. The video is a representation of the song and feels like the visual equivalent of the track.
