Director Post

For this documentary I plan to tell the story of my father through the use of old photos and interviews with the people who knew him. The main driving force of the documentary is of my fathers old photography, because up until recently I didn't know that my father had a passion for the arts. It was when I received some of my fathers belongings I came across a crate full of photos, and every photo inside was A wonderful piece of art. The documentary will focus on the years between 1982-1988 of my fathers life. In this section we will utilize our interviewees to help tell the story of how they all met, What life was like during that time and most importantly what my father was like. The main purpose of this documentary is to help tell the story of my father but also expose the audience to his art which was a big part of his life.

The video for Lazarus is a mixture of performance and conceptual ideas, there is no concrete plot for the video, rather it is an interpretation of death. The overall tone of the video gives this validity, the muted colors and use of darkness creates a somber tone and matches the melancholy song. One of the key moments is of Bowie on the bed, the way it is shot makes it seem other worldly due to that fact Bowie looks like he is standing yet laying in a bed. The way he moves and clutches the blankets show pain and fear, which are major themes in the song. The camera has movement, but it is slow and ominous, similar to Evil Dead or Children of Men. The video is a representation of the song and feels like the visual equivalent of the track.
